ECHO BLOOM
She was born in a clothing factory, a girl stitched into life among cloth and thread, in the quiet hum of machines. One afternoon, she fell asleep on her desk, a quiet black hole at the center of the workshop.
When she awoke, she was no longer on Earth. In this strange, otherworldly place, she meets a boy and falls in love, before suddenly vanishing. The boy begins his search, following her absence all the way to Tokyo. Where did she go? When did she pass away? Was she in the universe, or in the realm beyond death? To be continued.
Shot entirely in the working atelier of THEULTRABLACK—a new brand born from the very factory that produces garments for Paris collections by Comme des Garçons and Yohji Yamamoto—this film features its real seamstresses as the dancers who hauntingly move through the factory floor.
The film stars Leon, Paris Collection runway regular for Rick Owens and more, and YUUMIKO, a top model for ZARA, adidas, and Levi’s. At the helm is director Kasumi Hiraoka, whose fashion-forward cinematic vision captivated audiences at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
In the film’s final sequence, clothing becomes a vessel of rebirth, and something deeper is awakened as a resurrection unfolds at the very place where new fashion is born.

ELEMENTS
Textile artist Jenny Monks and composer/film artist David Ian Bickley have collaborated to create a captivating short film. This project digitally maps AR elemental film images onto student textile creations, seamlessly transitioning fashion from the sewing room to the digital realm.
The theme, ELEMENTS, inspired the staff and students of Douglas St Campus in Cork, Ireland, to unite their creative talents. They produced a film artwork featuring intriguing headpieces designed and crafted by students. Drawing inspiration from iconic designers like Alexander McQueen, Coco Chanel, Iris Van Herpen, and John Galliano, the students skillfully manipulated reclaimed materials, transforming raw elements into wearable sculptural accessories. All of this was achieved under the creative direction of Jenny Monks.

Embroidered is a generative fashion short film that reimagines traditional Hanbok through the lens of artificial intelligence.
Blending the elegance of Korean heritage with the aesthetics of global fashion, the film explores how AI can curate, interpret, and express cultural identity in a visual language.
Created using ChatGPT, MidJourney, KlingAI, and HailuoAI, Embroidered presents the silent poetry of fabric, form, and movement.
It stands at the intersection of fashion, technology, and cultural storytelling — a minimalist expression of tradition, translated through innovation.

Fake Roses Never Die
"Tell me—Why do we fall in Love?" follows the intimate emotional journey of a protagonist navigating the stages of love, from its exhilarating anticipation to its bittersweet disillusionment, and ultimately towards self-discovery. Through a series of dream-like vignettes dipicting the tender inner world, the protagonist explores the vulnerabilities of connection, delving into questions of identity, longing, and the meaning of love itself. The film paints a portrait of transformation, culminating in a tender revelation: the path to love is as much about holding oneself as it is about holding another.

Millers, your hair, your day
Millers, your hair, your day is a fashion film that celebrates the power of a great hairstyle to turn the everyday into a runway. Through three protagonists —a designer immersed in sketches and textures, an architect obsessed with form and detail, and a musician who moves to the beat of her own rules— we follow how their hair, styled at Millers, shapes their day. From the first glance in the mirror to the final chord, Millers walks with them, with attitude, precision, and personality. Because the day starts with you —but also with your hair.

Nystagmus
Film Nystagmus builds upon the story around the latest collection by Dóra Surányi, BIGSEE Fashion Awards winner 2023.
The human psyche can alter how we see and feel. Nystagmus reflects this through the visual experience of involuntary eye movement and vibrating sight. The garments in the film feature photogram compositions made from upcycled plastic parts, designed to mirror the disoriented perception of nystagmus. Through these shifting patterns and movements, the film explores how vision and inner state can lose focus, distort, and ultimately dissolve into new forms of perception.

ONWARD MOMENTUM
Traversing the hypnotic rhythm of Woman and Machine… a modern-day heroine etched in leather and velocity hurtles down the familiar Route 33. Each stitch a road marker home. A visual lookbook sonnet where leather learns its wearer and armor becomes second skin.
After a life of global exploration, Cleopatra Stella Jones, the motorcycle, returns to her roots on a nostalgic journey to Richmond, Virginia’s rolling hills and shifting landscapes, debuting the signature handcrafted leather MWR Collection DAVIS Body Luggage™; the inaugural piece from the atelier’s MWR Body Luggage Collection. Model Sasha Payton commands Cleopatra while adorned in the signature Whipstitch leather outerwear.
Under Creative Director Mia Wright-Ross’s vision, MWR Collection reveals itself as luxury's quiet guardian with each bespoke leather piece engineered for the body in motion. A collaboration with Director Sewra G Kidane (“Proclamation Punctuation” & “As Above”) and musician Pink Siifu, producing an electrifying soundscape, ONWARD MOMENTUM rebels against the mundane in a metronomic hum of the sewing machine against the blur of highway… daring us forward.

Skin On Skin: The Rise & Fall Of The World's Largest Furrier
Skin On Skin: The Rise & Fall of the World's Largest Furrier is a psychological examination of the people that contributed to creating and destroying an empire.
The story is told by 40 different people involved; Meltzer family members, former Evans Furs Employees & industry partners. Each scene is analyzed by two psychologists, helping us to dig into the WHY of it all.
An empire stitched from glamour and grief, built on silence, undone by time.
For every family still living with what was never said out loud.
Flawed. Imperfect. Fallible. How could they have not seen this coming?
All the glass ceilings they broke; empires they built; none of it could shield them from the tragedies to come. And each time another one would happen, the Meltzer family community would yet again be transformed.
It looks glamourous and perfect, envious even, from the outside looking in, but it isn't.
Thus, may I present, a tragic love letter to my grandmother, her siblings and all descendants that would come along afterwards.
In 1912, after having been 'sold' into marriage by her brothers but now with three children, my maternal great grandparents, Rose & her husband, Julius Meltzer decided to run from their troubles by going to America.
You can run but you can not hide and naturally, old as well as new troubles tagged along.
Things would not go as planned when Rose's depression sends her reeling, thereby infecting the entire family along the way, but each of her then six children would respond to the ensuing abandonment in vastly different ways with vastly different outcomes, thereby forcing an examination of obvious questions; does money care who has it? Which influences outcomes more; genetics or environment? And is there only one direction you can go when you get to the top of the highest peak?

The OC Effect
The surf-skate business evolution with interviews with the major principals in the industry.
One may think fear and phobias are the same, but they are not. Phobias are irrational, no reason of being there. And I have an irrational fear, a phobia if you may, of not leaving a mark in the world, of the people not knowing who I am and being able to appreciate my art.
Thats the reason why I decided to go with Phobias for my first collection. I want people to not only see, but feel the collection, I want them to see the pieces and when they find the one that is related to their phobia, have them appreciate it.
Ive been through some really tough things I wouldnt wish upon anyone, and it took me some time, but after learning to appreciate all the positive and good things on all the bad, my talent started taking off.
Thats what I want to achieve with this, have people see my vision of their phobia in my creations, and appreciate the art on the fear, the beauty of the ugly.

Weaving Hope – Hsinshe Banana Fiber Workshop
The Kavalan people, an Indigenous group from Taiwan’s eastern coast, have endured a long history of displacement. For decades, they were officially classified under other Indigenous groups by the government. After years of persistent advocacy, the Kavalan regained their official recognition in late 2002—a milestone that marked not only the restoration of their name but also the revival of their nearly lost craft: banana fiber weaving.
This documentary centers on the stories of members from the Lala Ban Banana Fiber Workshop in Xinshe, and explores the unique weaving traditions of the Kavalan people. Beginning with the tribe’s historical background, the film takes viewers into the workshop’s daily life, examining the challenges of cultural transmission, difficulties in marketing handmade goods, and broader issues of cultural preservation and community employment. More importantly, it reveals the deeper meaning the workshop holds for the Kavalan community.
The structure of the documentary is inspired by the metaphor of weaving—where the warp threads represent knowledge and the weft threads carry emotion. The “warp” introduces the intricate processes, skills, and obstacles of banana fiber weaving, while the “weft” tells personal stories of the artisans—their passion, perseverance, and dedication to this ancestral craft.
In addition to interviews with members from diverse backgrounds, the film incorporates ambient sounds and scenes from daily life to retain a sense of presence and authenticity. Historical footage, photographs, and archival news clips are also used throughout the film to enrich its visual and narrative layers.

Weaving the Forest
A journey to create clothing—It is a journey of prayer for life.
From soil, water, plants, animals, to people—Countless lives, spanning past, present, and future, are woven together to create a single garment of silk. In Japan’s satoyama—traditional rural landscapes nurtured by forests and human hands—this culture has evolved, deeply rooted in the blessings of nature.
The Japanese belief in Yaoyorozuno Kami-Countless gods and spirits, the idea that deities reside in all things, reflects a
worldview of reverence and gratitude toward the natural world.
Though these traditions are fading, their spirit endures in the textile regions across Japan, where people continue to preserve the culture of weaving as a living expression of harmony between life and nature.

Worn Shapes
Worn Shapes is a three-look garment collection that aims to combat negative body ideals in the fashion industry through a historic fashion lens. The collection focuses on distorting understructures from the 16th-18th century as a metaphor for our modern body shame. Historically, when dramatic understructures were in vogue, a viewer would understand that the wearer’s body did not naturally take that shape underneath. Yet, the shapes worn were reflective of the body ideals of the time. Nowadays, understructures are still worn, think shapewear, push up bras–women’s body ideals are ever-changing. Worn Shapes will take understructures and distort them to echo the shapes of the natural feminized form, body parts we are told to hide away, instead, stripping them bare and becoming the only shape worn.
In the film, we see each look in a vignette, placed in a setting with furniture that often reflects the spaces where body shame and anxiety can manifest: a dressing screen, a chair too small for the hips, or in this case, her side hoops, and many mirrors. We see the model’s body anxiety and shame escalate to a breaking point, leading them to destroy their surroundings. This act symbolizes that freedom from body shame doesn’t come from altering one’s body, but from changing the environment—the media we consume, the people we keep close, and, most importantly, our own thoughts. The models then walk down the runway with an air of self acceptance, proving that their bodies have a place in fashion, now and always, joining each other at the end of the runway. Although these shameful thoughts and feelings about our bodies may feel overwhelming and isolating, we can find strength in communities of acceptance.

CURATOR'S CORNER
Artifashion Intelligence – The Virtual Journey of the Mask
Artifashion Intellighenzia is an immersive virtual reality installation by the ARTOLDO collective that blends AI-generated 3D objects, text, and voice cloning with audiovisual elements within a 360° space to explore a compelling question: Is fashion art?
The installation features virtual representations of iconic figures such as Alexander McQueen, Joel-Peter Witkin, David Bowie, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Isabella Blow, Sarah Burton, and others.
All voices in the installation are AI-generated clones, created using advanced voice cloning technology. Audio samples were meticulously extracted and refined from publicly available interviews, while AI-crafted scripts are rooted in in-depth research by Sara Ferro and Chris Weil. These scripts examine the provocative intersection of fashion and art.
This mixed-media project integrates cutting-edge technologies and artistic genres, including AI, virtual reality, 3D modeling, video art, audio and video editing, music composition, photo collage, moving image art, net art, code art, scripting, web design, and even site hacking.
From concept to completion, the project was developed over the course of a month to ensure a seamless experience across major browsers on smartphones, tablets, and desktops. More than a demonstration of how AI can enhance mixed-media art, Artifashion Intellighenzia delves into the nuanced dialogue between fashion and art.
Through this installation, we aspired to offer inspiration and bring iconic personalities like Alexander McQueen and David Bowie back to life in a digital form. The project also poses a broader question: Could this represent a step toward creating digital legacies for all?
The immersive AI-generated VR installation serves as a tribute to the legacy of British fashion icon Alexander McQueen, a close friend of David Bowie. The poster is inspired by McQueen’s No. 13 Finale from his Spring/Summer 1999 runway show, where model Shalom Harlow stood on a rotating platform, dressed in white, while robots spray-painted her. This iconic moment is reimagined through generative AI, with Harlow and her dress recreated in vivid detail. Viewers can access the runway video by pointing the mask at the model.
The installation can be experienced as a Point-and-Click Adventure Art Game, offering an immersive, interactive journey in any browser on Desktop, Tablet and Mobile devices. Visitors can discover the Alexander McQueen After Life collection, featuring over 30 AI-generated 3D models by Artoldo. The installation also includes AI voice cloning, with a total runtime of 45 minutes, enriching the experience with layers of sound and storytelling.
The poster also references Joel-Peter Witkin’s Mask and McQueen’s The Birds, with the red cross sprayed above Witkin’s Mask being replicated in the installation. In this tribute, the fashion runway is designed as a red carpet shaped like a cross, linking to Witkin’s deep Christian mythological worldview. This thoughtful design choice strengthens the connection between McQueen’s fashion art and Witkin’s symbolic imagery.
Moreover, to sum up, the red cross, which is sprayed above the crucified Jesus figure on Witkin’s Mask, raises the question of whether AI signals the death of fashion and art, or if it represents the resurrection of a system long past, offering a chance for rebirth and new levels of expression that were once unimaginable.
